False Lashes – A How-to guide for cleaning, storing and reusing

After a day of wearing your false lashes, you might be tempted to head straight to the bin. But, there’s no need to chuck away your used lashes, especially if you paid a small fortune for them. If you regularly wear false lashes, simply throwing them away after a single use can land up costing more than you bargained for. What’s more, the lashes you buy, even those on the cheaper scale can be worn up to five times; providing of course that you take proper care of them. High-end lashes are designed to last up to 20 or even more applications.

Here’s how you can take care of your false lashes, regardless of which ones you buy:

Everyday Wear False Lashes

Step 1

Be sure to remove all traces of glue from the band. To do this you need to use a small tweezer. Be careful not to pull out the lash strands when doing this.

Step 2

Place an oil-free make-up remover on a cotton ball or pad and gently wipe down the lashes. Be sure to remove all traces of mascara, leftover glue and dirt particles.

Step 3

Grab a cup of warm water and soak your false lashes for 10 minutes. This will ensure everything is washed away and that your lashes are ready for use again.

Step 4

Gently remove the lashes from the water and place them on a microfiber towel. Blot them dry then let them air-dry throughout the night.

Step 5

Brush the lashes out in the morning using a Spoolie and return them to the original case or re-apply.

Pro-tip

When you apply your false lashes for the first time it’s a good idea to curl your false lashes and your natural lashes. This prevents separation. Then seal the two together with a light touch of mascara.

Professional False Lashes

For problematic areas where makeup may clump together, I suggest spot treatment to remove the residual makeup. Never submerge your professional lashes in water or make-up remover.

Step 3

Place your professional lashes back in their original case. When preparing to use them again you need to gently loosen the corners with a pair of tweezers.

Pro Tip

Do not use mascara on professional lashes. Oils in mascara tend to break down the bonds between the hair fibres and the band. Curl your lashes first and then add mascara. Follow this by applying your professional false lashes.

Hiya, I am really glad I have found this information. Today bloggers publish only about gossip and internet stuff and this is really irritating. A good website with exciting content, that is what I need. Thank you for making this web site, and I will be visiting again. Do you do newsletters by email? Gabriela Lucien Kelly
